Intern Positions 2009
We are building Eco-Village" - a Retreat and Learning Center.
The plan is to have 5 log cabins for people to come and stay in, a log “eldhus" (firehouse is direct translation) where cooking can be done inside, a log sauna house for cleaning oneself both physically and mentally- at the end of a long day. We would like a barn that could be used for storage and can also be used for indoor group meetings, if the weather dictates.
There now exists an outdoor cooking “eldstad” as well as an outhouse. We have no electricity or running water in the area (except for a stream running through the property!) We have solar panels and are planning on using wind power as well. We have a hand pumped well for water and outhouses and solar showers for cleaning up.
We are looking for hard working , community minded individuals who are looking to expand their life experiences with something different and important. If you would like to be a part of the exceptional Experience and see it from the beginning - then this is for you! !
We have spent the last few years in preparation , including clearing a garden area, where we continue plant every summer. We have built a solar panel / meat smoker and finished the outhouse.

Here is what to expect for this summer!Permaculture - We will be starting to extensively permaculture our land. We will be planting fruit trees, food plant as well as medicinal plants.
We are setting up a 20 foot (6meter) Tipi - This will be our meeting/eating area.
We are trying to purchase an over 100 year old barn that had been taken down over 40 years ago, this will be set up by the garden.
Building a “slogbod” or 3-sided shelter and a timbered bench (see pictures below) - these will be by the lake for grilling korv (hotdogs).
Clearing of brush for trails to access the lake as well as the rich raspberry patches spread across the property.

Other items to be done as well!There may be classes going on at the time of you visit as well. You are able to sit in on them for free and help out if you can!
You will cook your own food over an open fire. There is a solar shower, with the opportunity to visit a local youth hostel for a “real” hot shower, if desired.
What we can offer this year is the opportunity to experience the beginning of something special in the making. Lots of good work, good learning and a life experience never to forget! A bit like the summer before Dick Proenneke started filming “Alone in the Wilderness”
There is no cost to the Internship - although you will be expected to provide your own your own tent, sleeping bag, etc.
We will provide food for the time you are here. Expect lots of local favorites including moose, reindeer and fish.
